What is the role of the Board of Civil Authority in Vermont?
The Board of Civil Authority (BCA) is the body responsible for determining voter eligibility and hearing property tax appeals. The Town Clerk serves as Clerk of the Board. The Clerk or any member of the Selectboard may call a meeting of the BCA. The Board of Civil Authority is comprised of the Selectboard, Town Clerk and Justices of the Peace.
